Located in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand which contains the source of both the Ganges from Gangotri and Yamuna from Yamunotri rivers, is the Govind Pashu Vihar National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary. Within the park lies the beautiful Kedarkantha. Nestled comfortably in the higher reaches of Garhwal Himalayas this moderate trek not only attracts seasoned trekkers but beginners as well. The trek is an amalgamation of everything a traveler would want. It has beautiful, dense-immersive forests, gorgeous clearings, rich flora and fauna, trails, striking campsites and not to forget the oh so beautiful sunsets. The climb to the peak of Kedarkantha starts from a small quaint parish called as Sankri. Its astonishing to eyewitness 13 peaks of the Himalayan range from the Kedarkantha peak. Moreover, there is a lake called Juda-ka-talab, as per the local folklore, once upon a time Lord Shiva meditated at Kedarkantha. Its name implies so from the droplet fallen from Shiva Hair to form this lake named as Juda-ka-talab.


DAY 1:

Journey from Dehradun to Sankri (188 kms approx 7 hrs)

  • Journey from Dehradun to Sankri (188 km, approx. 7 hours)
  • Scenic drive with breathtaking landscapes, valleys, and forests
  • Check-in at the homestay in Sankri at an altitude of 6,400 feet.
  • Free time in the evening to explore Sankri village.
  • Briefing session and dinner at the accommodation.

DAY 2:

Sankri Village to Juda Ka Talaab (4 kms, approx. 4-5 hrs)

  • Trek from Sankri to Juda Ka Talaab (4 km, approx. 4-5 hours).
  • Traverse oak and pine forests to reach the high altitude lake.
  • Settle in the campsite at an elevation of 2786 meters
  • Relaxation time and dinner in the evening amidst nature.

DAY 3:

Juda Ka Talaab to Kedarkantha Base (4 kms, approx. 4-5 hrs)

  • Juda Ka Talaab to Kedarkantha Base (4 kms, approx. 4-5 hrs)
  • Pass through dense forests and steep ridges for breathtaking mountain views
  • Explore the surroundings, capturing picturesque moments.
  • Spend the night at the campsite with views of snow-clad peaks.

DAY 4:

Trek from Base – Kedarkantha Summit – Hargaon Camp

  • Final ascent to the summit (Elevation: 3800 meters).
  • Early morning trek through meadows to catch the sunrise.
  • Witness a 360-degree view of Garhwal Himalayan Ranges.
  • Return to Kedarkantha Base for brunch, then proceed to Hargaon Camp.
  • Enjoy dinner and overnight stay under the starlit sky.

DAY 5:

Descend Hargaon Camp - Sankri Village - Drive to Dehradun

  • Trek down to Sankri, passing through oak, maple, and pine forests.
  • Be cautious on steep descents during the descent.
  • Depart from Sankri to Dehradun, concluding the Himalayan adventure.
  • Dehradun to Dehradun Transportation
  • All Meals from Sankri to Sankri (4 breakfast + 4 dinner + 3 Snacks + 3 lunches )
  • Hot Water for Drinking only (Provided during Breakfast/Dinner, First Aid & Medical kit).
  • Trekking Permits/Forest Fees.
  • Qualified & experienced trek Leader
